Follow these steps to build your own subscribers list:

1. Ask for permission. Do not put unsolicited emails into your database. Instead, create a squeeze page and give away something useful in exchange for the subscribers email address.
2. Provide useful content! Your subscribers appreciate information that will make their lives better.  Send useful content to them, not just any information they can find elsewhere. You therefore have to know what your subscribers needs are. You also need to know how to communicate effectively.
3. Leverage Social Media: Use web 2.0 websites to publish your content eg through facebook ads or facebook groups and twitter updates. If your subscribers find this content useful,they will subscribe to your newsletter
4. Make it easy to share your site content: Allow subscribers to pass on the information to their friends. This can be achieved by including tell a friend at the end of the email, or suggesting that they forward it to friends
5. Include embedded media on your content: People are busy everywhere today.Sometimes, a video or an audio will be more appreciated than just text
6. Do you have testimonials? Do you have testimonials from other subscribers? Make it easy for new subscribers to see this information
7. Have a privacy policy: Include a privacy policy on your website and newsletter and stand by it!
8. Provide free content: Blog and write articles related to what you provide on your newsletters, but ensure that the potential clients understands that the newsletter articles are more useful!
9. Let others reprint your newsletter: Let other webmasters publish your newsletter content as long as the content is not altered.
10. Keep in touch: Are you able to follow up with your subscribers and do you personally answer any queries they may have?
